Jul 8, 1940 – Jan 15, 2023
With sadness in our hearts, we announce the passing of Eugene Barillot of Edmonton. Eugene grew up near Island Lake, Alberta, a hilly wooded area filled with deer, moose, small mammals, and countless species of birds. As a youth, Eugene worked a trapline and fished with his father where he grew to appreciate the delicate interplay between the flora and fauna of the region. Eugene’s passion for learning and living life was
energetically expressed by dancing, making music and art, and reading—especially in the fields of mathematics and science.
Eugene will always be remembered for his gentle, caring nature and his love of family, friends, and animals. He is already missed by his sisters, Anna and Ingrid, his niece, Barbra, his nephew, James, his six step-children: Carolyn (John), Laurel, Chris (Pat), Bruce (Alex), Wendy, and Brenda (Geoff); and many grand and great-grandchildren. Eugene was predeceased by his beloved wife (Elizabeth), his father (Francois), and his mother (Margarete).
A memorial will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4303-20th Ave., Edmonton, on June 1st at 1:00 p.m. We wish to thank the attentive staff at Allen Gray Centre. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Nature Conservancy Canada.
