October12/1927 – November12/2021
Herta Polednik, born Herta Krzystyniak age 94 passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Jubilee Lodge care home where she resided for the past 5 years.
She is predeceased by her husband Friedrich (Fred) and her son Gary. She was a loving wife and mother. In her early days she was a remarkable seamstress and one heck of a cook.
Prior to residing in a care home she lived for 13 years with her daughter Marianne , son-in-law James, and there dogs. She loved spending as many warm days possible outside in the garden tending to the many flowers with a cup of tea and canine company.
Shortly after getting married, at just 24 years old Herta & Fred and there Friends left Germany to come to Canada via steamship across the Atlantic to begin there lives. New country, new language, and big dreams. Living a short while in Winnipeg,MB then moving to Vancouver,BC to settle and start a family. In 1971 they moved again with there 2 kids to Edmonton,AB where she lived out her life.
She was a beautiful soul, sadly life goes on regardless who is left with us on this journey. We pay tribute to her everyday.
In loving memory.
She is survived by her daughter Marianne.
“Mom, I’ll see you in the garden on the other side”
Herta was the fist to welcome me to Canada ! I have fond memories of visiting Herta , Fred, Garry and Marianne Ladner before they moved to Edmonton!
My thoughts and wishes are going to you at these difficult times , Marianne and James .
Love Gerda
I could not have asked for a more beautiful mother in-law. She was kind, loving and accepting of all. She always had a smile, her laughter was genuine and loved the simple things in life. Even as dementia crept in, these ingrained qualities rose to the surface.
She enjoyed animal videos and sitting peacefully outside in the garden with the dogs at her side.
I was fortunate to be a part of her life and can honestly say she was one of the most beautiful women I have ever known. God bless you Herta and see you when I get home.
My warmest condolences to my cousin Marianne and James !
Tante Herta will be greatly missed .
