Windsor, James
November 23, 1947-September 25, 2023

James Al (Jim) Windsor, (75), passed away, peacefully in hospice, on September 25th, 2023.

Our Dad, Husband, Grandpa Hobbit, and “Unc.” was a brilliant, kind man and lifelong learner. Throughout his life, he was passionate about whatever he did. His sense of
adventure took him hiking through mountains, hang-gliding, skinny dipping in mountain streams, and repelling off cliffs and bridges. He will be remembered for his love of birds, nature and all living creatures – even the porcupines, as long as they were not eating his trees.

He was one of the hardest working people we knew – shovelling snow for the whole block, looking after family members, writing computer programs, and studying calculus “for fun.” He created miles of trails and lookout spots at his favorite place – otherwise known as, “The Sand Farm.” He could take anything apart and put it back together in the dark, as long as you could hold the flashlight long enough. He had a tremendous sense of humour, making up funny nicknames for loved ones, and using phrases like, “We’re off like a turd of hurdles.” He laughed like a donkey.

Jim is survived by his wife Shirley Windsor and daughters Bobbi (Stefano) Francescut and Cori (Marc) Tremblay, as well as grandchildren Simon, Marcus, Madeline and Phoenix. He is also survived by his sister Judy Windsor, niece Candy Retson, and nephew Robert Calvert. Jim was predeceased by his parents Robert (Bob) Windsor and Emily Rose (Becky) Jorgensen, and his brother John Windsor.

As per his wishes, a small, intimate celebration of his life will take place in the spring of 2024, in his favorite place, surrounded by birds, wildflowers and trees. In lieu of other tributes, a donation can be made to Pilgrims Hospice. He would also love to know that you will feed the birds and think of him.
