Johan (John) T. Schols

It is with profound sadness that the family of Johan (John) T. Schols announce his passing on January 13th, 2022 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease and its complications at the age of 78 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, best friend and soulmate of 30 years, Lois. Also mourning his passing are daughter Joey(Brian), grandchildren Breanna, Alexa (Mike), brothers Leo, Art, Joey (Barb), sister Maria(Joe), as well as numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Arie and Everdiena. John was born and grew up in Rotterdam. He emigrated to Canada in 1965 and worked tirelessly in the restaurant industry for 30 years. Following his retirement from the restaurant industry he went to work for Groupex-Edmonton for 15 years. He was an active member of Uncles at Large for many years and worked hard to successfully bring his siblings to Canada for a better life. As per John’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in John’s name to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area or Parkinson Association of Alberta.
