Madeline Anita Gravelle

Gravelle, Madeline Anita (nee Mease) (Jennings), age 85 of Westlock, AB, passed away peacefully and suddenly with family by her side on August 5, 2024. Madeline was born on March 24, 1939, to Elsie and Elmer Mease in Westlock, AB, and raised on a farm in Pickardville, AB.

Madeline leaves to mourn her children Randy (Gail) Jennings, Linda (Scott) Anderson and Diana Jennings; daughter-in-law Lina; her (4) grandchildren Ken (Chrysten) Jennings, Frank Jennings, Elissa (Matthew) Albers and Jesse (Ashley) Jennings; 6 great grandchildren, Tolson, Sydney, Jackson, Johnathan, Ari, and Madison; sister Doreen Pratt and brother Ralph (Norma) Mease. Plus numerous friends, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Madeline was predeceased by her son Clayton Jennings; her parents Elsie and Elmer; sisters Lovetta, Mildred and Audrey. Brothers Charlie and Ray. Madeline was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion No. 97 for 45 years, serving as president of the lady’s auxiliary for many years. She was a community leader and heavily involved with several organizations, volunteering as a Brownie leader, baseball coach, president of the Edmonton Eskimos Ladies Quarterback Club and the junior football league at the Kinsmen field house.

She loved her “Eskies” and Montreal Canadiens. She held Eskimo season tickets at Clark Stadium for many years and would often watch them practice. When the Canadiens played, she didn’t just watch the game, she played it, she would say “I got a game to play today”. She loved to play her guitar and could she ever yodel. She really enjoyed playing music with her Bluegrass friends.

A memorial will be held on Saturday September 28, 2024, at 2 pm., at the Westlock Legion No. 97 located at 10004 – 106 Street, Westlock, AB, T7P 2K4. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 97 or SCARS (Second Chance Animal Rescue Society) P.O. Box 3045 Athabasca, AB, T9S 2B9.

I will miss my aunt Madeline she was always so kind and caring to everyone she met. I always loved when she would play her guitar and we would have a jam session.
