On Monday, November 27th, 2023, we said goodbye to our
amazing mom, grandmother, wife, aunt, and friend. Margo lived her life with purpose and passion, and her presence in our
everyday lives will be missed.
Her husband, Bruce, son Brent (Diana) and daughter Kim (Lionel) along with her grandchildren Ty, Mya, Liam, and Kiana will do their best to honour her memory in everything they do. Her favourite saying was, “anything worth doing is worth doing to the best of your ability.” Her work ethic and determination were an inspiration to us all.
Margo was a trailblazer. She was one of the first women to graduate from the Faculty of Physical Education at the University of Alberta. She was the captain and setter on the
U of A Panda’s volleyball team. As an educator she taught Phys. Ed., Math, and Science and finished her career as a school counsellor. As a community leader, she organized, managed, and coached multiple sports teams and hosted many block parties. She played badminton and tennis at the Royal Glenora and was a member of several bridge clubs throughout the years. Margo over-celebrated and everything. and she and Bruce were known for throwing epic parties.
She loved being outdoors: gardening, suntanning, reading, and spending her summers at the cabin on Pigeon Lake. Margo was famous for her cooking, baking, and amazing
holiday dinners. She was the ultimate cheerleader and gave the biggest hugs. She never missed one of her kids’ sporting events and was always the most enthusiastic fan. She made sure to always tell her family how proud she was of them and how much she loved them.
If you know any of us, you know Margo. Our teammates, friends, teachers, and
neighbours all enjoyed visiting and laughing with her. There was no one like her. Our hearts are shattered, but we know that mom would tell us that she’s ok and we’ll be ok. We will carry her love and lessons with us forever.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, December 10th from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. upstairs at The Workshop Eatery located at 2003 91 St SW in Edmonton. In true Wyley fashion it will be an open-house-style event – drop in whenever and stay as long as you can. We would love to see you. Food and drinks will be provided and some stories, laughs, and tears will be shared.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories by calling 1-866-950-5465 or emailing giving@alzheimer.ab.ca.
We love you, Mom.
Bruce . . . sorry for your loss.
Bruce and children and grandchildren, I am so sorry for your loss. As you navigate your way through the next few weeks, months, years yourselves and together, hopefully your memories of Margo will grant you solace.
