Patricia Louise Aitchison August 29 th , 1949 – May 31 st , 2024

Patricia Louise Aitchison (Tichler) sadly passed away on May 31 st , 2024,
peacefully in the early morning at St. Mary’s Hospital in Camrose, Alberta. She
fought a sudden but short battle with cancer. Patricia was only 74 years of
age. Her departure is a great shock and a deep wound, and it is gravely felt by
her entire family and closest friends who loved her deeply.
Patricia is survived by her loving husband Peter Aitchison of 55 years,
daughters Heather (Vince Weiler), Robyn Aitchison, and her grandchildren
Robert and Joseph Weiler. Her brothers, Peter Tichler (Marian), Bernard
Tichler (Barbara) and a lot of nieces and nephews. Patricia was predeceased
by her parents Edward Tichler, Kathleen Tichler (Parker) and her sister
Francis Tichler.
Mom had very active life with community politics being a school board
Trustee in Vulcan, County and then later with School District 51, in
Lethbridge, Alberta. She was also involved with Health Board in Southern
Alberta for many years. Mom always believed that the only way to make
changes was to be involved.
Her grand passion was writing she spent everyday of her life writing in
a journal. When she had her writing published in a sailing magazine, she
started to try to perfect her craft by writing a short children story and later a
novel.
Mom loved being with her family, our fondest memories was either
when we were canning peaches and pears or making applesauce. To the
assembly line when prepping perogies, or the bread-making and the small
baking tins she had picked up for my sister and I to make our very own child
size loaves of bread. Later watching her grandsons after school and her
realizing that boys “operate” way differently than the daughters she raised,
and her laughter at their antics.
Words can’t describe how much we’ll miss Mom and her smile that
could light a room. She was a strong fighter, but she is now sailing on a
journey where she is free from pain and is floating peacefully on the lake she
loved and lived by.
As per Patricia’s final request, no funeral or memorial service will be
held. We invite contributions to Cancer Society of Canada in lieu of flowers.

My deepest sympathies to Peter and family. I always enjoyed chatting with Pat at the various Triple M functions over the years. Way too young.
