Henry Vanderheide died on October 15, 2020. He is survived by Simone, daughter, April (Todd) and grandson Josh. Two sisters, Rita and Ann and one brother Rick (Ada). Sisters/brothers in law, Debbie and Howard, Dale and Gerri. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews. Henry loved playing golf, spending his winters in Arizona and enjoying a cold beverage. He lived simply and was a loyal soul and will be missed by many. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Daniel Robert Baxter age 60, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, October 9th, 2020. Born in PEI, Dan was the oldest of four children. At 18 years of age he moved from the East coast to Alberta where he pursued his love of music, performing and touring in bands for many years until settling in Edmonton, AB.
Dan’s easy-going nature and unconditional acceptance of others made him a natural fit to work in social services where he quickly became a favourite among clients and co-workers. A born storyteller with an immense sense of humour, he loved to share tales (sometimes tall) to amuse and entertain all who would listen. In later years, Dan ’s interest in electronics and computer technology led him to become certified in Networking and Microsoft systems. After surviving cancer, Dan enjoyed camping and travelling with family and friends as well as pursuing his interests in technology, including some novel and unique inventions.
Dan was predeceased by his wife, Sheila Arora and father, Robert Edward Baxter. He is survived by his mother Edythe Baxter of Rothesay, NB, sons; Rob Laverdure (Amanda) and Eric Baxter both of Langley, BC, brothers; Jeff (Diane Symbaluk) Baxter of Sherwood Park, AB and Roger Baxter of Calgary, AB, sister Robyn (Stephen Smith) Baxter of Clifton Royal, NB, nephews; Rob and Alex Baxter of Sherwood Park, AB and niece Jessica Baxter of Rothesay, NB. Interment service will be held at All Saints Anglican Church Cemetery in Clifton Royal, NB in Spring/Summer of 2021.

Lisa lived in Alberta 37 Years but her heart was always longing for Norther Ontario ,especially Basswood Lake where summers were spent at her Grandparents camp because basswood was so special to Lisa the family hopes to have a celebration of life in the summer of 2021.Donations can be made to the MS Society.

Kelly Brianne FitzGibbon said goodbye to her family and closed her green eyes for the last time on September 2, 2020 at the age of 38. She left this life as she lived it: strong, determined, and surrounded by love. After nearly 3 years of bravely fighting cancer, Kelly took her much deserved rest.

Kelly FitzGibbon was born in Montreal in 1982, and spent most of her life in Sherwood Park and Edmonton. She was always a clever and accomplished student, and graduated from the University of Alberta with honours in 2004. She went on to work at the Alberta Legislature, the AAMDC, and spent several years working in communications with the City of Edmonton. She was married to her husband, Luke Streisel, in 2013 and gave birth to her daughter Nina in 2015. In 2017, while 6 months pregnant, she was diagnosed with cancer and would spend the next few years courageously enduring a barrage of treatments, surgeries and scans. Despite this she gave birth to her second child, Rosetta Mae, in 2018.

Kelly FitzGibbon was a fierce debater who loved a good argument. She had a sharp wit and impressive mind that was always ready for action. She was a painter, a writer, and a roller derby girl. She was a world traveller and collected friends along with her photos and souvenirs. Kelly loved music and wasn’t afraid to start a dance party in the living room. She had an incredible connection with books and filled her house with them. She could talk about art, movies, or politics until the teapot grew cold.

Kelly’s greatest love was her children and she leaves behind Nina (age 5) and Rosie (age 2) to keep her light shining in the world. They have their mother’s loving heart and creative funny soul. She would have done anything for her kids, and fought a horrible disease for years for just one more chance to watch them grow.

Kelly also leaves behind a heartbroken family to remember her love and tell her stories. She spent more than 10 years with her husband Luke Streisel and their love saw them through many impossible times. She was a precocious and gifted child for her parents, dad John FitzGibbon and mom Doreen Gibbs (along with stepdad Ken Gibbs), and a supportive and inspiring big sister to her siblings, Jason FitzGibbon and Sarah Forster. She also leaves behind a hole in the lives of many step siblings, cousins, and other family members.

Kelly will be also missed and fondly remembered by the many people lucky enough to call her a friend. Her closest friends were her other family and she loved them fiercely. She approached everyone she met with an open and giving heart. She was an incredible listener, a shoulder for many to cry on, and giver of sage advice.

There will not be a traditional funeral or memorial at this time at Kelly’s request. Instead she has asked, when circumstances allow, her friends and family to gather in celebration of her life. Please feel free to make a donation in Kelly’s name to an organization of charity of your choice. Kelly also suggested that everybody take some time with people they love, share a good meal, and raise a glass to her memory.

Ramsaran, Steve – July 12, 1953 – September 29,2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Steve Curtis Ramsaran who died on September 29th, 2020. Steve was born in Trinidad to parents Festus and Sheila on July 12, 1953. He is survived by his son Eric, daughter in law Danielle and his two grand-daughters Tyra and Shane. He is also survived by his siblings Carol(John), Clyde(Lana Dawn), Clano(Zena), Colin(Sherryl),Ronald(Jennie) and Darryl(Marciel).
He will be affectionately remembered by his nieces and nephews, Caroline, Dwain(Jenny Lyn),Petal(Ben),Dale, David, Sarah, Mark, Justin, Dominique, Stefan and Stephanie. He was a Great Uncle to Tariq, Jude, Callie, Nico and Amaya. He will also be missed by his cousins and close family members Jocelyn, Clive, Pearl, Glen, Isabelle, Sherryl, Dale, Kerry, Derek, Mel, Kenrick, Famida, Joanne, David and Betty Sewal. Steve will never be forgotten by his friends, Spencer, Vidya, Ron, and Alma to name a few. Steve will fondly be remembered for his love of family, BBQ’s music, sports and his big heart. He was truly a social butterfly and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Helmut Zientz (December 10, 1938 – October 3, 2020)

Helmut Zientz passed away peacefully at home which was his wish.

Left with broken hearts are his wife Helga Zientz of 55 years, his beloved son Gerhard [Monica], grandchildren Dustin and Kadyn.

Helmut was a hard working man who always had a good fishing or hunting story. He was very proud of Dustin and Kadyn, they meant the world to him.

Helmut leaves behind many close family and friends.

The family would like to thank all of the Health care providers from the Cross Cancer Institute, home and palliative care. Your compassion and endless dedication helped us through this difficult journey.

Cremation has taken place and as per Helmut’s wishes there will be no service. A private family gathering will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Lorraine Riendeau (nee Larson) passed away in Edmonton, Alberta at the Age of 85 years young on August 12, 2020.

July 9, 1935 – August 12, 2020

Lorraine was born in Saskatchewan and grew up in Dodsland, SK and Jellicoe area on the farm, the second oldest of 6 children. She met her future husband Leonard ( who also had 5 siblings) while playing softball and married the love of her life Len on his 21st birthday. (The best gift Len ever received!) Lorraine and Len started their life together in Outlook, SK and that is where their 3 children were born. Lorraine loved water and the mountains and always wanted to live in Alberta so they moved their family to Grande Prairie and then settled in Edmonton, Alberta.

Lorraine and Len loved to travel, and they lived the past 40 + years as Snowbirds, spending their summers in Kelowna/Edmonton area and winters in Arizona. Lorraine kept very active her entire life , teaching line dancing and aqua-size classes. She always went for a daily walk for both exercise and socialization. Lorraine lived her life to the fullest and spent most of her time dancing and soaking up the sun. She said hello to every person she saw and was known for her signature sparkly hats and roll-on glitter.

Lorraine is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Leonard Riendeau, as well as her three children: Sherri (Peter), Valerie (Bob), and Arthur (Carol). Lorraine will be fondlyly remembered as an amazing Glitter Grandma by her 8 grandchildren, Sean (Lisa), Pamela (Luke), Priscilla (Ryan), Sheldon (Michelle), Jocelyn (Morgan), Amanda (Derek), Patrick and Marissa (Jamie). As well as a wonderful GG to her 10 great grandchildren. Lorraine was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Gordon, and two of her sisters, Dora and Kay.

Lorraine lived a ‘happy happy happy’ life (as she would tell everyone). Her body may have gotten old but she was always full of Sunshine and Youth – Forever 29 she would say.

The family says that she is up in Heaven teaching the Angels how to Line Dance!

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, her family will not be holding a celebration of life at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Alberta.

Lucas J. Croft
October 26, 1990 – September 22, 2020
We are heartbroken by the passing of Lucas and will forever miss his creative, kind, adventurous spirit, his contagious laugh & keen sense of humour. He will be remembered for his love of family, friends, music, art and sports— especially the Edmonton Oilers!

Lucas leaves behind his beautiful daughter Kingsley & her mother Courtney Cels, his mother Michelle Croft, father Glenn Croft (Wendy)sisters Bailee & Taylor Croft; brother Jamie Croft,(Rina Wilson) nephew Logan, nieces Casey and Emma, Grandma Kelly, Grandma & Grandpa Rasmusen and several aunts, uncles, cousins & friends.

Lucas did not like to talk about his achievements or his illness and felt everyone’s goal in life should be “to be a good person.” He did always love to talk about his greatest joy Kingsley.

Due to gathering restrictions a celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2021.

To honour Lucas’ memory: be a cheerleader not a critic, be kind, be fair, love and celebrate the differences in each other, never skip leg day, and look for the light that shines in all of us. Find the art in the everyday, and when you can’t, create your own!
